Awards, organized by the SANS institute. |
OpenBSD was chosen as the winner of the award for effective security |
testing of an operating system. To quote part of the award, |
"In the 2003 competition among military academies and grad schools, in which |
they competed to provide the best defense against cyber attacks launched |
by National Security Agency specialists, the judges acknowledged that in |
the final analysis, use of OpenBSD was a determining factor in the winner's |
ability to fight off attacks." The awards were presented by Richard Clarke |
in Washington DC. Other awards included patch distribution mechanisms |
and denial of service attack mitigation techniques. |
