33: The OpenBSD project strives to maintain many high <a href="goals.html">
1.2 jufi 34: standards</a>, one of them is to supply users with excellent documentation, in
1.1 jufi 35: the form of man pages and web pages.
36: </p>
37:
38: <p>
39: Now we want to take this one step further and supply users with translated
40: versions of certain key docs into their native language.
41: </p>
42:
43: <p>
44: The first step will be translating the most important web pages into common
45: languages. Next step will be adding INSTALL docs and introductory man pages.

200:
201: <p>
202: The website consists of multiple subdirectories which we will call sections,
203: for each language there is an extra subdirectory in each section if a
204: translation exists. This subdirectory has a name that is the two-letter
205: <a href="http://lcweb.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/englangn.html">ISO 639-1 language code</a>,
206: like 'es' for Spanish or 'de' for German. In that directory, we find files
207: with the same names as their original [en] version, only translated in the
208: correct language.
209: </p>
210:
211: <p>
212: For example:
213: </p>
214:
215: <pre>
216: www/index.html
217: www/goals.html
218: www/security.html
219: www/es/index.html
220: www/es/goals.html
221: www/faq/index.html
222: www/faq/es/index.html
223: </pre>
224:
225: <p>
226: If <strong>www/es/index.html</strong> links to a translated page
227: <strong>goals.html</strong>, it points to <strong>www/es/goals.html</strong>.
1.2 jufi 228: If <strong>security.html</strong> is not (yet) translated, it should link
1.1 jufi 229: to <strong>../security.html</strong>, and points to
230: <strong>www/security.html</strong>.
231: </p>
232:
233: <p>
234: We will also maintain in each translated and original [en] file a
1.2 jufi 235: series of links to the translated pages. These links should be sorted!
1.1 jufi 236: You can find these in the left top of index page, for example:
237: <a href="de/index.html">[de]</a>
238: <a href="index.html">[en]</a>
239: <a href="es/index.html">[es]</a>
240: <a href="fr/index.html">[fr]</a>
241: <a href="ja/index.html">[ja]</a>
242: <a href="nl/index.html">[nl]</a>
243: </p>
244:
245: <p>
246: All the contributors have a CVS account on a dedicated CVS server
1.2 jufi 247: <a href="http://steelix.kd85.com">steelix.kd85.com</a>. After
1.1 jufi 248: the pages are finished and up to date, they are synchronized with
