35: The OpenBSD project strives to maintain many high <a href="goals.html">
1.2 jufi 36: standards</a>, one of them is to supply users with excellent documentation, in
1.1 jufi 37: the form of man pages and web pages.
38: </p>
39:
40: <p>
41: Now we want to take this one step further and supply users with translated
42: versions of certain key docs into their native language.
43: </p>
44:
45: <p>
46: The first step will be translating the most important web pages into common
47: languages. Next step will be adding INSTALL docs and introductory man pages.

204: <p>
205: The website consists of multiple subdirectories which we will call sections,
206: for each language there is an extra subdirectory in each section if a
207: translation exists. This subdirectory has a name that is the two-letter
208: <a href="http://lcweb.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/englangn.html">ISO 639-1 language code</a>,
209: like 'es' for Spanish or 'de' for German. In that directory, we find files
210: with the same names as their original [en] version, only translated in the
211: correct language.
212: </p>
213:
214: <p>
215: For example:
216: </p>
217:
218: <pre>
219: www/index.html
220: www/goals.html
221: www/security.html
222: www/es/index.html
223: www/es/goals.html
224: www/faq/index.html
225: www/faq/es/index.html
226: </pre>
227:
228: <p>
229: If <strong>www/es/index.html</strong> links to a translated page
230: <strong>goals.html</strong>, it points to <strong>www/es/goals.html</strong>.
1.2 jufi 231: If <strong>security.html</strong> is not (yet) translated, it should link
1.1 jufi 232: to <strong>../security.html</strong>, and points to
233: <strong>www/security.html</strong>.
234: </p>
235:
236: <p>
237: We will also maintain in each translated and original [en] file a
1.2 jufi 238: series of links to the translated pages. These links should be sorted!
1.1 jufi 239: You can find these in the left top of index page, for example:
240: <a href="de/index.html">[de]</a>
241: <a href="index.html">[en]</a>
242: <a href="es/index.html">[es]</a>
243: <a href="fr/index.html">[fr]</a>

245: <a href="nl/index.html">[nl]</a>
246: </p>
247:
248: <p>
249: All the contributors have a CVS account on a dedicated CVS server
1.2 jufi 250: <a href="http://steelix.kd85.com">steelix.kd85.com</a>. After
