33: The OpenBSD project strives to maintain many high <a href="goals.html">

1.1 jufi 35: the form of man pages and web pages.
36: </p>
37:
38: <p>
39: Now we want to take this one step further and supply users with translated
40: versions of certain key docs into their native language.
41: </p>
42:
43: <p>
44: The first step will be translating the most important web pages into common
45: languages. Next step will be adding INSTALL docs and introductory man pages.

169: <p>
170: The website consists of multiple subdirectories which we will call sections,
171: for each language there is an extra subdirectory in each section if a
172: translation exists. This subdirectory has a name that is the two-letter
173: <a href="http://lcweb.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/englangn.html">ISO 639-1 language code</a>,
174: like 'es' for Spanish or 'de' for German. In that directory, we find files
175: with the same names as their original [en] version, only translated in the
176: correct language.
177: </p>
178:
179: <p>
180: For example:
181: </p>
182:
183: <pre>
184: www/index.html
185: www/goals.html
186: www/security.html
187: www/es/index.html
188: www/es/goals.html
189: www/faq/index.html
190: www/faq/es/index.html
191: </pre>
192:
193: <p>
194: If <strong>www/es/index.html</strong> links to a translated page
195: <strong>goals.html</strong>, it points to <strong>www/es/goals.html</strong>.
1.2 ! jufi 196: If <strong>security.html</strong> is not (yet) translated, it should link
1.1 jufi 197: to <strong>../security.html</strong>, and points to
198: <strong>www/security.html</strong>.
199: </p>
200:
201: <p>
202: We will also maintain in each translated and original [en] file a
1.2 ! jufi 203: series of links to the translated pages. These links should be sorted!
1.1 jufi 204: You can find these in the left top of index page, for example:
205: <a href="de/index.html">[de]</a>
206: <a href="index.html">[en]</a>
207: <a href="es/index.html">[es]</a>
208: <a href="fr/index.html">[fr]</a>
209: <a href="ja/index.html">[ja]</a>
210: <a href="nl/index.html">[nl]</a>
211: </p>
212:
213: <p>
214: All the contributors have a CVS account on a dedicated CVS server
1.2 ! jufi 215: <a href="http://steelix.kd85.com">steelix.kd85.com</a>. After
1.1 jufi 216: the pages are finished and up to date, they are synchronized with
