35: The OpenBSD project strives to maintain many high <a href="goals.html">
1.2 jufi 36: standards</a>, one of them is to supply users with excellent documentation, in
1.1 jufi 37: the form of man pages and web pages.
38: </p>
39:
40: <p>
41: Now we want to take this one step further and supply users with translated
42: versions of certain key docs into their native language.
43: </p>
44:
45: <p>
46: The first step will be translating the most important web pages into common
47: languages. Next step will be adding INSTALL docs and introductory man pages.

196: <p>
197: The website consists of multiple subdirectories which we will call sections,
198: for each language there is an extra subdirectory in each section if a
199: translation exists. This subdirectory has a name that is the two-letter
200: <a href="http://lcweb.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/englangn.html">ISO 639-1 language code</a>,
201: like 'es' for Spanish or 'de' for German. In that directory, we find files
202: with the same names as their original [en] version, only translated in the
203: correct language.
204: </p>
205:
206: <p>
207: For example:

213: www/security.html

216: www/faq/index.html
217: www/faq/es/index.html
218: </pre>
219:
220: <p>
221: If <strong>www/es/index.html</strong> links to a translated page
222: <strong>goals.html</strong>, it points to <strong>www/es/goals.html</strong>.
1.2 jufi 223: If <strong>security.html</strong> is not (yet) translated, it should link
1.1 jufi 224: to <strong>../security.html</strong>, and points to
225: <strong>www/security.html</strong>.
226: </p>
227:
228: <p>
229: We will also maintain in each translated and original [en] file a
1.2 jufi 230: series of links to the translated pages. These links should be sorted!
1.1 jufi 231: You can find these in the left top of index page, for example:
232: <a href="de/index.html">[de]</a>
233: <a href="index.html">[en]</a>
234: <a href="es/index.html">[es]</a>
