35: The OpenBSD project strives to maintain many high <a href="goals.html">
1.2 jufi 36: standards</a>, one of them is to supply users with excellent documentation, in
1.1 jufi 37: the form of man pages and web pages.
38:
39: <p>
40: Now we want to take this one step further and supply users with translated
41: versions of certain key docs into their native language.
42:
43: <p>
44: The first step will be translating the most important web pages into common
45: languages. Next step will be adding INSTALL docs and introductory man pages.

191: <p>
192: The website consists of multiple subdirectories which we will call sections,
193: for each language there is an extra subdirectory in each section if a
194: translation exists. This subdirectory has a name that is the two-letter
195: <a href="http://lcweb.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/englangn.html">ISO 639-1 language code</a>,
196: like 'es' for Spanish or 'de' for German. In that directory, we find files
197: with the same names as their original [en] version, only translated in the
198: correct language.
199:
200: <p>
201: For example:
202:
203: <pre>
204: www/index.html
205: www/goals.html
206: www/security.html
207: www/es/index.html
208: www/es/goals.html
209: www/faq/index.html
210: www/faq/es/index.html
211: </pre>
212:
213: <p>
214: If <strong>www/es/index.html</strong> links to a translated page
215: <strong>goals.html</strong>, it points to <strong>www/es/goals.html</strong>.
1.2 jufi 216: If <strong>security.html</strong> is not (yet) translated, it should link
1.1 jufi 217: to <strong>../security.html</strong>, and points to
218: <strong>www/security.html</strong>.
219:
220: <p>
221: We will also maintain in each translated and original [en] file a
1.2 jufi 222: series of links to the translated pages. These links should be sorted!
1.1 jufi 223: You can find these in the left top of index page, for example:
224: <a href="de/index.html">[de]</a>
225: <a href="index.html">[en]</a>
226: <a href="es/index.html">[es]</a>
227: <a href="fr/index.html">[fr]</a>
228: <a href="ja/index.html">[ja]</a>
229: <a href="nl/index.html">[nl]</a>
230:
231: <p>
232: All the contributors have a CVS account on a dedicated CVS server
1.2 jufi 233: <a href="http://steelix.kd85.com">steelix.kd85.com</a>. After
