33: The OpenBSD project strives to maintain many high <a href="goals.html">
1.2 jufi 34: standards</a>, one of them is to supply users with excellent documentation, in
1.1 jufi 35: the form of man pages and web pages.
36: </p>
37:
38: <p>
39: Now we want to take this one step further and supply users with translated
40: versions of certain key docs into their native language.
41: </p>
42:
43: <p>
44: The first step will be translating the most important web pages into common
45: languages. Next step will be adding INSTALL docs and introductory man pages.

193:
194: <p>
195: The website consists of multiple subdirectories which we will call sections,
196: for each language there is an extra subdirectory in each section if a
197: translation exists. This subdirectory has a name that is the two-letter
198: <a href="http://lcweb.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/englangn.html">ISO 639-1 language code</a>,
199: like 'es' for Spanish or 'de' for German. In that directory, we find files
200: with the same names as their original [en] version, only translated in the
201: correct language.
202: </p>
203:
204: <p>
205: For example:
206: </p>
207:
208: <pre>
209: www/index.html
210: www/goals.html
211: www/security.html
212: www/es/index.html
213: www/es/goals.html
214: www/faq/index.html
215: www/faq/es/index.html
216: </pre>
217:
218: <p>
219: If <strong>www/es/index.html</strong> links to a translated page
220: <strong>goals.html</strong>, it points to <strong>www/es/goals.html</strong>.
1.2 jufi 221: If <strong>security.html</strong> is not (yet) translated, it should link
1.1 jufi 222: to <strong>../security.html</strong>, and points to
223: <strong>www/security.html</strong>.
224: </p>
225:
226: <p>
227: We will also maintain in each translated and original [en] file a
1.2 jufi 228: series of links to the translated pages. These links should be sorted!
1.1 jufi 229: You can find these in the left top of index page, for example:
230: <a href="de/index.html">[de]</a>
231: <a href="index.html">[en]</a>
232: <a href="es/index.html">[es]</a>
233: <a href="fr/index.html">[fr]</a>
234: <a href="ja/index.html">[ja]</a>
235: <a href="nl/index.html">[nl]</a>
236: </p>
237:
238: <p>
239: All the contributors have a CVS account on a dedicated CVS server
1.2 jufi 240: <a href="http://steelix.kd85.com">steelix.kd85.com</a>. After
1.1 jufi 241: the pages are finished and up to date, they are synchronized with
