1.27      deraadt    21: Each developer working on OpenBSD has their own aims and priorities,
                     22: but it is possible to classify the goals we all share:

                     26:        ability to look at CVS tree change directly</a>.
                     27:        Users can even look at our source tree and changes

                     29: <li>Integrate good code from any source with <a href=policy.html>acceptable
                     30:        copyright (Berkeley style preferred, GPL acceptable, NDA not)</a>.
                     31:        We want to make available source code that anyone can use for ANY
                     32:        PURPOSE, with no restrictions.

                     34:        companies to use whichever pieces they want to.</strong>  There are

                     70: Naturally, the OpenBSD project requires funds to operate, due to
                     71: internet line costs and the same hardware upgrade issues everyone
                     72: experiences.  For this reason, the project sells CDROMs of our most

        !            74: project.  Thus, when you buy an OpenBSD CD or tshirt, whether at a

        !            77: the chance that OpenBSD will make future releases.

        !            97: OpenBSD, mostly due to expensive networking costs in Canada (due

1.40    ! deraadt    99: USA).  Thus far, no serious funding or cost-sharing of the project
        !           100: has come from any company or educational institution.
        !           101: Theo works full-time on improving OpenBSD, and much of the project's
        !           102: funds are spent to buy developers new hardware so that they can
        !           103: continue to improve OpenBSD (for example, more than 20 new kinds of
        !           104: ethernet cards have showed up on the market since OpenBSD was
        !           105: started).
        !           106: Thus, funding is needed at all times, in fact a nice sponsorship or two
        !           107: would go a long ways towards ensuring that OpenBSD continues to exist.
