1.8 drahn 46: The OpenBSD/pegasos port was started early 2003 when
47: Genesi contacted
1.14 drahn 48: Dale Rahn to port OpenBSD to their newly released motherboard.
1.15 xsa 49: After several months of hiatus, with the release of the Pegasos II pending,
1.14 drahn 50: Dale Rahn was hired by Genesi to revive the port.

53: Pegasos II support was added early 2004.
54:
1.14 drahn 55:

56: The bulk of the work on the pegasos port was performed by Dale Rahn, this work
57: was terminated at the end of Feburary 2004 due to lack of payment on the part
58: of Genesi.
59: They claimed to have used up all of the company funding and were over 3 months
60: behind in payment, 'We will get a big contract/sale any day'.
61: At that point it was no longer possible for the developer to live without
62: payment, so he stopped active work on pegasos and searched for other employment.
1.1 drahn 63:
64:

1.14 drahn 65: A few weeks later a second batch of Pegasos II boards were due to be shipped,
66: with a new version of firmware.
67: After some convincing, a version of the new firmware was finally acquired.
68: This new firmware would not boot OpenBSD.
69:
1.8 drahn 70:

1.14 drahn 71: bPlan, who builds the boards and writes the Open Firmware, was contacted.
72: While they responded to the initial inquiry, they never resolved the booting
73: issue.
74: In fact, all further emails to Genesi and bPlan over the next few weeks were
75: ignored.
1.1 drahn 76:
77:

1.14 drahn 78: At that point the hardware was released, with no additional information,
1.15 xsa 79: it was presumed that the new Pegasos II boards would not boot OpenBSD.
1.1 drahn 80:
81:

1.14 drahn 82: Finally, due to the inability to work with bPlan/Genesi and the
83: fact they owed the developer over 3 months pay,
84: it was announced that pegasos support would be dropped.
85: The code was not removed until later because it was too close to OpenBSD 3.5
86: release and would disrupt that process.
