1.8 drahn 45: The OpenBSD/pegasos port was started early 2003 when
46: Genesi contacted
1.14 drahn 47: Dale Rahn to port OpenBSD to their newly released motherboard.
1.15 xsa 48: After several months of hiatus, with the release of the Pegasos II pending,
1.14 drahn 49: Dale Rahn was hired by Genesi to revive the port.
1.1 drahn 50:
1.9 miod 51:

52: Pegasos II support was added early 2004.
53:
1.14 drahn 54:

55: The bulk of the work on the pegasos port was performed by Dale Rahn, this work
56: was terminated at the end of Feburary 2004 due to lack of payment on the part
57: of Genesi.
58: They claimed to have used up all of the company funding and were over 3 months
59: behind in payment, 'We will get a big contract/sale any day'.
60: At that point it was no longer possible for the developer to live without
61: payment, so he stopped active work on pegasos and searched for other employment.
1.1 drahn 62:
63:

1.14 drahn 64: A few weeks later a second batch of Pegasos II boards were due to be shipped,
65: with a new version of firmware.
66: After some convincing, a version of the new firmware was finally acquired.
67: This new firmware would not boot OpenBSD.
68:
1.8 drahn 69:

1.14 drahn 70: bPlan, who builds the boards and writes the Open Firmware, was contacted.
71: While they responded to the initial inquiry, they never resolved the booting
72: issue.
73: In fact, all further emails to Genesi and bPlan over the next few weeks were
74: ignored.
1.1 drahn 75:
76:

1.14 drahn 77: At that point the hardware was released, with no additional information,
1.15 xsa 78: it was presumed that the new Pegasos II boards would not boot OpenBSD.
1.1 drahn 79:
80:

1.14 drahn 81: Finally, due to the inability to work with bPlan/Genesi and the
82: fact they owed the developer over 3 months pay,
83: it was announced that pegasos support would be dropped.
84: The code was not removed until later because it was too close to OpenBSD 3.5
85: release and would disrupt that process.
