1.8 drahn 30: The OpenBSD/pegasos port was started early 2003 when
31: Genesi contacted
1.14 drahn 32: Dale Rahn to port OpenBSD to their newly released motherboard.
1.15 xsa 33: After several months of hiatus, with the release of the Pegasos II pending,
1.14 drahn 34: Dale Rahn was hired by Genesi to revive the port.

37: Pegasos II support was added early 2004.
38:
1.14 drahn 39:

40: The bulk of the work on the pegasos port was performed by Dale Rahn, this work
41: was terminated at the end of Feburary 2004 due to lack of payment on the part
42: of Genesi.
43: They claimed to have used up all of the company funding and were over 3 months
44: behind in payment, 'We will get a big contract/sale any day'.
45: At that point it was no longer possible for the developer to live without
46: payment, so he stopped active work on pegasos and searched for other employment.
1.1 drahn 47:
48:

1.14 drahn 49: A few weeks later a second batch of Pegasos II boards were due to be shipped,
50: with a new version of firmware.
51: After some convincing, a version of the new firmware was finally acquired.
52: This new firmware would not boot OpenBSD.
53:
1.8 drahn 54:

1.14 drahn 55: bPlan, who builds the boards and writes the Open Firmware, was contacted.
56: While they responded to the initial inquiry, they never resolved the booting
57: issue.
58: In fact, all further emails to Genesi and bPlan over the next few weeks were
59: ignored.
1.1 drahn 60:
61:

1.14 drahn 62: At that point the hardware was released, with no additional information,
1.15 xsa 63: it was presumed that the new Pegasos II boards would not boot OpenBSD.
1.1 drahn 64:
65:

1.14 drahn 66: Finally, due to the inability to work with bPlan/Genesi and the
67: fact they owed the developer over 3 months pay,
68: it was announced that pegasos support would be dropped.
69: The code was not removed until later because it was too close to OpenBSD 3.5
70: release and would disrupt that process.
