1.8 drahn 36: The OpenBSD/pegasos port was started early 2003 when
37: Genesi contacted
1.14 drahn 38: Dale Rahn to port OpenBSD to their newly released motherboard.
1.15 xsa 39: After several months of hiatus, with the release of the Pegasos II pending,
1.14 drahn 40: Dale Rahn was hired by Genesi to revive the port.

43: Pegasos II support was added early 2004.
44:
1.14 drahn 45:

46: The bulk of the work on the pegasos port was performed by Dale Rahn, this work
47: was terminated at the end of Feburary 2004 due to lack of payment on the part
48: of Genesi.
49: They claimed to have used up all of the company funding and were over 3 months
50: behind in payment, 'We will get a big contract/sale any day'.
51: At that point it was no longer possible for the developer to live without
52: payment, so he stopped active work on pegasos and searched for other employment.
1.1 drahn 53:
54:

1.14 drahn 55: A few weeks later a second batch of Pegasos II boards were due to be shipped,
56: with a new version of firmware.
57: After some convincing, a version of the new firmware was finally acquired.
58: This new firmware would not boot OpenBSD.
59:
1.8 drahn 60:

1.14 drahn 61: bPlan, who builds the boards and writes the Open Firmware, was contacted.
62: While they responded to the initial inquiry, they never resolved the booting
63: issue.
64: In fact, all further emails to Genesi and bPlan over the next few weeks were
65: ignored.
1.1 drahn 66:
67:

1.14 drahn 68: At that point the hardware was released, with no additional information,
1.15 xsa 69: it was presumed that the new Pegasos II boards would not boot OpenBSD.
1.1 drahn 70:
71:

1.14 drahn 72: Finally, due to the inability to work with bPlan/Genesi and the
73: fact they owed the developer over 3 months pay,
74: it was announced that pegasos support would be dropped.
75: The code was not removed until later because it was too close to OpenBSD 3.5
76: release and would disrupt that process.
