33: The Sun3 port of OpenBSD was derived from the NetBSD/sun3 port, when the
34: sun3 and sun3x ports were still different entities. Noone showed much
35: interest in OpenBSD/sun3 for a while, although the code was mostly kept in
36: sync with NetBSD.
37:
38: <p>
39: Eventually, Kenneth Stailey started working on the port, but since he was
40: living in the USA, he could not export a release he would have built, so he
41: lost interest working on this port.
42:
43: <p>
1.50 miod 44: Early 2000, Miod Vallat attempted to bring the port back in shape, making
1.45 miod 45: the code compile again, and devising completely new installation media. The
1.48 jmc 46: port even shipped with complete X Window System client and utilities, although
47: there was no working X server.
1.45 miod 48:
49: <p>
50: The port lived for a few releases, but unfortunately hardware problems and
51: lack of time conspired to prevent catching up with NetBSD on code, and the
52: sun3 code was not ready for the switch from the old Mach virtual memory
53: system to

1.67 ! kmos 56: for the 3.1 release. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and eventually
1.45 miod 57: it was decided to remove the code from the tree.
